Lee Jae-won

Jaewon Lee is an innovative fashion designer who reinterprets Korean traditional craft, particularly the ’Joomchi‘ technique, in a contemporary context.

Through the lens of ’Abjection‘ theory, she explores Korean cultural identity and sheds new light on the marginalized aesthetics of Asia.

Most notably, she has developed unique textiles using traditional Joomchi Hanji (Korean paper).

Her work demonstrates a harmonious blend of tradition and modernity through contemporary elements such as neon green and pure white stripes, belts crafted from a mix of thread and wool yarn, and experimental silhouettes that contrast the textures of cotton and Joomchi Hanji.
